AS220 Free Culture Award
On August 11th 2012, I received AS220's Free Culture Award alongside international award recipient Guillermo Gomez Peña! At Foofest, I unveiled Hurray for Foo Thousand Twelve, a quilted shade mural in the second story windows of AS220's Empire St. location in downtown Providence! Guillermo and I created a collaborative series of 10 full color screen print figures portraying radical personas and a corresponding set of postcards that highlight moments from our performance histories.
Guillemo, Michele Ceballos-Michot, and I also presented New Barbarians, a counter-cultural fashion show the night before, on August 10th, in the AS220 Blackbox theatre. Below are images the award ceremony, the shades, the original Nostagia box paintings, and my gritty baptismal performance. Click he to read a review of the show written by Travis Martin.
